Everybody knows that whether it’s Huizhou, Zhongshan, Guilin, or even fourth- and fifth-tier cities, if you want to live a modern lifestyle, enjoy your leisure time, or have tea in decent shopping arcades, you will end up paying roughly the same amount of money as you would in first-tier cities. You don't need to take my words blindly - just go and try it yourself at Starbucks, McDonald’s, KFC, or even Luckin Coffee (瑞幸), Gong Cha (贡茶), Nayuki’s Tea (奈雪的茶), etc. You verify it yourself.
It is true that you can save money on the following:
. room rent
. food and groceries at local wet markets (but not at large supermarkets)
. heating and lighting in coal-mining areas
Everything carries a price. In economics, the real price is what you actually pay to obtain a product or service, not just the nominal price displayed on the tag.
I am particularly interested in #3 Panzhihua (攀枝花) because I don’t like cold, high humidity, or constantly changing weather.
